With the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk wrapping up its full operation schedule this past weekend, construction on its main entrance project is now heading into the winter months.
The park received the green light from the City of Santa Cruz to construct the two new rides that are part of the $12 million project: Shockwave and Typhoon.
But before these rides start to go vertical, the Boardwalk still has a long ways to go to construct the new area. Let’s check in on their progress.

Flash forward to now, with the buildings to the left of Neptune’s Kingdom now demolished. This picture was taken roughly from the same spot.

On the ground level, guests can peer through windows in the construction walls.
Pirate Ship and Double Shot have had their queues torn out as part of the construction.
This project is a good reminder that the Boardwalk was built on sand.
The Boardwalk built a temporary walk path on the beach as a detour around the construction zone.
