Beach Boardwalk Bonanza 2024 Event Recap

On April 24. 2024, we had our yearly event at Santa Cruz, this year to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Giant Dipper. We started the day with an amazing 90 minutes of ERT, and the Dipper gave its usual amazing rides.  Notice the cool new graphic on the front of the train!

Everyone took time out to admire the two beautiful murals that the Boardwalk created for the anniversary.

After our rides, we had a great lunch featuring fajitas and everyone’s favorite northern California treat, It’s Its.

Lunch was followed by a presentation from Jesse Durant, the Beach Boardwalk archivist. We learned the amazing fact that the Giant Dipper was built in just 47 days, and how close we came to losing the coaster because it didn’t make enough money in its early days.

Check out these three posts from the Boardwalk’s blog for all the juicy details!
